Gravity Weighted Blanket review

Gravity

The category benchmark, and still not a gift to give as a surprise.

Tested by The GiftsVerdict team

Boston, Massachusetts · September 2026

The verdict

Well made and fairly priced at around $125, undercutting Baloo’s $188 to $274 range. The reason the score is not higher has nothing to do with build quality: a substantial minority of people find fifteen pounds oppressive rather than calming, and there is no way to know which sort someone is before they try it. Buy it for someone who has asked.

What we liked

  • Around $125, materially cheaper than Baloo at $188 to $274
  • Evenly distributed fill with a removable, washable cover
  • Quiet — no rustle when you move
  • Clear weight guidance on which size to choose

What we did not

  • A substantial minority find the sensation oppressive rather than calming
  • Fifteen pounds is a genuine effort to get into a duvet cover
  • Too warm in summer without a cooling cover
  • Unsuitable for anyone with shoulder, mobility or breathing problems

What it is like to live with

Weighted blankets are the clearest example on this site of a product where build quality is not the deciding factor. The construction here is good — even fill, no bead migration reported over long use, a cover that washes without shrinking.

The response is simply personal in a way most gifts are not, and it splits roughly two to one. That makes it a poor surprise and an excellent fulfilment of a request. If they have mentioned wanting one, this is the one to buy; if they have not, buy something else.

How we tested it

Assessed from published specifications and pricing read in September 2026, plus published reviews and the consistent pattern of user reports about tolerance of weight.
