Hyperice Hypervolt 3 review

Hyperice

Quieter and lighter than the Theragun, and cheaper at every tier.

Tested by The GiftsVerdict team

The verdict

Undercuts Theragun consistently — around £219 against £299 at the mid range — and it is the quieter, lighter tool, which is what actually determines whether one of these gets used more than twice. Theragun answers with a two-year warranty against Hyperice’s one, and with a triangular handle that genuinely reaches a mid-back unaided. On balance the cheaper, quieter one wins.

What we liked

  • Cheaper than Theragun at every tier
  • Quieter — the single biggest factor in whether it gets used
  • Lighter, which matters for a weaker grip
  • Battery lasts a week of normal use rather than a day

What we did not

  • One-year warranty against Theragun’s two
  • Conventional handle is harder to use on your own mid-back
  • Still 2lb-plus held at arm’s length — work for anyone frail
  • Highest setting is too aggressive for most people

What it is like to live with

The specification that decides this category is noise, not amplitude. A massager that sounds like a power tool gets used twice and lives in a cupboard afterwards; one that runs at conversation volume comes out in front of the television most evenings.

The weight caveat matters for the readers of this site. Two and a half pounds held at arm’s length becomes work quickly, and for someone with reduced grip strength that undermines the whole point. If that describes the recipient, a heated foot warmer at a quarter of the price gets used far more.

How we tested it

Assessed from published pricing, warranty terms and comparative reviews read in September 2026. Pricing differs between UK and US markets and both makers discount frequently.
